In writing, students finished their descriptive writing pieces about owls and scarecrows they created in art class. Each child included adjectives and comparisons to create a picture of their artwork in words. Here are a few examples!
We have transitioned from social studies to science. The students have started a unit on earth science. This week, we used Mystery Science to learn about Earth's landforms and how elevation is related to how rivers are formed and how they flow. The children made landform models and created "rainstorms" to observe the river formation and the direction of water flow.
Here are our latest Flat Stanley arrivals from the Czech Republic and California!
Halloween was a lot of fun! Early in the day students participated in Spark Families. They also took part in a novel engineering challenge after listening to the book Room on the Broom. Students worked in pairs to create a broom that could hold the most pumpkins without breaking. It also had to be suspended at least two inches off the table. The second half of the day, the children had a great time at the parade and party. Thank you to all of the parents who planned and volunteered at our party!
