If your child is participating in the Talent Show, there will be a quick rehearsal on Wednesday, May 16th from 3:30 - 4:30 to practice the order and go through any last minute adjustments. Students will not be expected to do their act this day. Please arrange for your child to be picked up at 4:30 p.m. Please direct all talent show questions to Mrs. Mach or Mrs. Welch.

Class Updates:
Students have been learning about two and three-dimensional shapes in math. We had fun making our own rectangular prisms! We will finish the remaining lessons this week, and our last math test on Chapter 12 will take place on Thursday. Students received a study sheet (see below) on Friday that reviews 3-D shapes. They will also bring home additional review pages from their books on Wednesday.
We are wrapping up our book clubs in reading. All groups will finish up their chapter books this week and will share out their favorite parts. Our Scholastic News this week focused on wacky fruit and vegetable plants, which tied in nicely to what we have been learning about in science!
In writing, we had our poetry celebration last week. Each student picked a favorite poem to share with the class. Students created books of their poems, and each child learned how to publish a poem on Google docs or sheets. All spelling tests are now finished. We will spend the remaining time this year finishing our cursive writing lessons on forming capital letters in cursive.
We are wrapping up our science unit on plants. The children learned that different plants need different amounts of water and sunlight depending on where they live. We checked in our on "grass heads" and many of them are starting to sprout a lot of "hair"! Students checked to see if their predictions about how the grass would grow came true or not.
We finished up our Junior Achievement lessons last week. The children participated in an activity to practice the voting process and learned how the money they spend travels around a community. Thank you so much to Mrs. McRae for teaching the lessons!
