We are in need of a leader for our room's Valentine's Day party. If you would be willing to volunteer to help fill this role, please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you!
Our room is collecting soda can tab tops to support a K-Kids fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities. If you have any tab tops you can donate, please send them to school with your child. The collection will run though April.
Class Updates:
In math, we have finished up our units on multiplication. Next week, we will be working on division and learning the steps to long division problems. In addition, we will be practicing our fluency with our division basic facts.
In reading we have been reading some wonderful books to practice making inferences and drawing conclusions. We have almost reached the end of our persuasive writing unit. This week students learned the importance of acknowledging the counter-argument in a persuasive essay. We learned several different ways we could address the reader's feelings in our conclusion paragraphs, but still make strong arguments towards our own point of views. The children are working on editing their drafts and have started the final draft process. Our next unit in writing will focus on writing informational texts.
In social studies, we are wrapping up Ch. 4 and will have a test on Wednesday. As a fun way to look at the Lewis and Clark expedition from a different perspective, we will be reading Lewis and Clark and Me, a book that is written from Lewis's dog, Seaman's point of view. Our next unit in social studies will cover how Missouri became state.
