Weekly Update 8/16/19

We had a fantastic first two days of school! I am so excited to work with this kind and talented group of 2nd grade students. Our time over these two days has been spent getting to know each other, team building, and learning the procedures of our classroom.

Each student brought in items from home representing their interests to share with the class. We also did a "Find Somebody Who..." activity to get to know our common interests.

Our first STEM challenge was to work in teams to build the longest paper chain with only a set amount of materials. The students worked collaboratively and were so creative!

We read First Day Jitters and learned that everyone has different emotions on the first day of school. Students are now working on a writing piece to choose emojis that matched how they were feeling. They are also writing to explain their feelings.
