Weekly Update 3/3/19

We have started incorporating some mindfulness into our day to help with transitioning back into learning time after block or other breaks.

The students' Native American projects are coming along! They are wrapping up the Google Slides presentations and posters. Now, they will begin making dioramas to create a scene depicting life for Native Americans in their region.

We have finished all lessons in Chapter 8 in math and review pages came home with students in their green folders. We will be having a test on the chapter on Tuesday. Students have been practicing counting coins with various activities in their centers, working at their own pace on Freckle and coding, and engineering mazes with STEM bins.

In reading, our lessons have focused on identifying examples of cause and effect in fiction books. We used Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch as our anchor book. This was a great read aloud on Valentine's Day, and now the students are re-examining it to learn about the many examples of cause and effect that occur throughout a story's plot. All students are publishing their final copies of their informational books in writing.

Congratulations to Henry who was able to jump rope during our Kids Heart Challenge celebration after raising over $100 for the American Heart Association!
