Weekly Update 1/5/19

We had a great first two days back after winter break! Students used this time to share about their time off, get back into routines, and set some goals for the new year. I am so proud of how many students completed the winter break reading challenge! Students read in a variety of creative ways. We had close to 100% participation! Take a look at some of the fabulous readers!

The children did a "find somebody who..." activity to see what things they spent their time doing over break.

Each student made a resolution to help them with a school-related goal. Here are a few of our resolution bells.

We also got started with a new chapter in math. Chapter 6 covers adding three-digit numbers. We have completed lessons 2 and 3. Next week, we will focus on lessons 4-7. In reading, we have started a fiction unit that emphasizes studying characters in books.

Coming up next week, the children will begin a science unit on forces and motion and a non-fiction informational writing unit. Spelling tests will resume next week. Thursday and Friday spelling groups received their new words to begin studying. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday groups will get their new words next week.
